Instant Metals distributes rounds, hexagons, flats, squares and special sections in carbon and alloy steel. All bars are produced using the most advanced and efficient production line equipment in the industry and Instant Metals can cut cold finish products to meet our customer's needs. The cold finished bars are cut to customer specifications, tested for surface defects, bundled and stored in racks until shipping. Whether you need a specific bar or a truckload of cold finished bars, Instant Metals provides the flexibility to find the right solution, and the right timing, for you.
A consistent and economical supply of steel gives Instant Metals finishes an advantage in the cold finish industry - high quality products at a competitive price. Instant Metals distributes quality cold finished products, and begins with quality cold finished products from trusted cold finish manufacturers. The cold finished bars that Instant Metals distributes go through the following manufacturing process: On the bar line, raw steel bars are descaled and cleaned. Once cleaned, these bars are drawn through dies creating a smooth, uniform surface finish and size, while also increasing other physical properties. Next, these bars are cut to customer specifications and straightened to industry standards. The bars are then bundled and placed in racks for storage until shipping. Some bars must be heat treated and/or turned and polished and ground to meet customer specifications. Others are sent to the saw-cutting line, which is used as a cost-effective measure to eliminate end distortion for select customer applications. Instant Metals strives to work with you to provide the right cold finished product for your precise needs.
While larger companies require a minimum order, Instant Metals provides quality metal products for any size order without the hassle of minimums. No matter the size of your order, Instant Metals strives to satisfy your metal requirements with quality cold finished products. Take advantage of our low overhead! Cold rolling is a metallurgical process in which the metal is passed through a pair of rolls and the temperature of the metal is below its recrystallization temperature. This hardens the metal as the crystals are being stretched out. After a few times rolling the metal should be annealed by heating it above the recrystallization temperature. This should be done regularly as otherwise the metal sheet cracks due to brittleness. Most non-ferrous metals are rolled cold to make sheet. However, steel is usually rolled hot unless it is thin sheet or special bars such as for machine shafts.
